We’ve always stressed that selling your home in the winter is a better time than you think for so many reasons, but three of my favorites include,

1. Lower competition in the winter months.

According to Realtor.com “Since spring is the most popular home-selling season, the housing market is ultra-crowded with options at that time of year. And if you paid attention during Econ 101, you understand the law of supply and demand. But in the winter, there are fewer homes for sale. 2. Quick sales! Buyers are more serious to look during winter months, which means winter sales are often speedy.

We have found with our clients looking to purchase a home in the winter months, that they are more serious and quick to make a decision. We don’t have as many clients that would just like to “see what’s out there” during the winter months. What that means for you as the seller is a fast decision to buy!

3. People often get new jobs toward the beginning of the year and that means people on the move.

With people moving and having deadlines to start a new position finding a home fast can be top priority. This can benefit the seller in a big way by landing a sale with a client moving into the area for a new job.

According to Realtor.com, “Relocators typically have a limited amount of time to uproot their families and, as a result, don't have the luxury of spending a lot of time looking at properties. The kids need to get settled into school, and dealing with selling their old home can add another level of urgency and stress.
